Ensure high quality services for people who have addictions

It is important to consider how to ensure high quality services for people who have addictions.

Make sure each GP practice in the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has access to a drugs worker capable of assessing and overseeing the management of substance misuse in the community with other services for people with addictions.

Make sure all primary care staff screen for alcohol misuse in all those who attend the surgery who present evidence of risk factors for harmful use; the same applies for smoking (in other words, intervene before or at the time of taking up smoking, as opposed to strategies for giving up smoking).
